Tantalising Tuesday

Today is Tantalising Tuesday!

I have come across a new mantra, a good one I think.

Travel much, eat well.

I was going to bring you another recipe but I’ve decided instead to ‘torment’ you with some foodie pics from my recent trip to California. One of our first stops was at The Grove and the Farmer’s Market on the corner of Third and Fairfax in  L.A. A must see, must go to destination!!

So to begin with a few good old American Breakfasts! I don’t know about anyone else but when we travel we fill up on a big breakfast, walk it off, skip lunch and then have a light dinner.

The breakfast buffet was fab! I loved all the fresh fruits and mini pastries. After a few days I decided to skip the porridge as I eat that every day at home and instead try the Chicken and Kimchi Soup. It was a little strange to be eating something so savoury at breakfast but was a definite winner for me. Sprinkled with some chopped spring onions and walnuts it made a great, but healthy filler!

This place was an amazing place! A hub of shopping, dining, snacking, eating and entertainment. It was such a treat to go to – we were so busy looking at all the shops we didn’t realise we could have done some celebrity spotting.

Dried Fruits and popcorn

The atmosphere was laid back and open, an absolute maze of fresh and fun foods.

This post is mostly a kind of photo dump but I won’t bore you with too much. Food in California is fresh and there’s plenty of healthy choices. We shared the less healthy stuff!

Scrummy Salsa

In Solvang we had to pop into The Little Mermaid for refreshment. Our waiter was quite highly amused by our request for tea and he talked us into trying these yummy little cakes drenched in jam and whipped cream.

My snack lunch!

Why can’t we get these in the UK. My mouth was on fire but it was so good!

It was a privilege to stay with some friends in Highland – they cooked for us some lovely food!

Gareth’s Special Lamb and Blue Cheese burgers
Smoked Tri-Tip
Mac n’Cheese with beans, burgers and potato rolls
Lunch in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park was sophisticated and expensive.

I did not want to share my pudding!
