It has been a busy few weeks. This time last year we were in the Lake District in a beautiful stone cottage on the side of a hill. Ah but the views were wonderful. The days were full and precious, busy and the fresh air made us feel free and glad to be alive.
This year there is to be no holiday but instead we are concentrating on ourselves and family. Mr Delushious has, after nearly 30 years as a baker, retrained and is gaining experience as an electrician. Gone are the early morning starts (Yay!). And I am building myself a new business. The fun of that has been fab!
My meal deliveries are going well (not as well as I’d hoped though). I have several regulars and definitely my best seller is Cottage Pie. I must say I have refined the recipe and the one I sell is far tastier than anything I knocked up when I was ‘working’.
I have been to a few events and fairs which have been, shall we say, a learning curve. It takes time and courage to rebuild your confidence after a horrible experience and it did me good to get my face out there and be seen. I have decided that I am not a very good market trader – I love going to markets but being behind the table is not for me.
My baking skills have been put to good use with lots of lovely orders. It has been lovely making, baking and decorating cakes with added love for my customers.
Saturdays and Weekdays have been taken up with making lists, going shopping, planning and teaching cookery school.
I love Summer – it is such a great time of the year filled with little things that bring joy and magic and light into our lives. I’m pleased I made this change in my life. My future plans include a commercial kitchen to work out of, teaching Adults as well as children, running a Sugar Craft Course and opening a little village tea shop. Things are on the up – I smashed my financial target for August, almost doubled it! Here’s to looking over the horizon into the new season which will bring bright days and happy experiences.
