Sweet spiced masala tea

DSC00120Here’s something to take the chill out of your bones on a dreary day. It’s a lovely pick-me-up comforting cuppa; warm, sweet and spicy… perfect to share with a friend whilst having a natter in front of a toasty warm  fire.

To serve 2 you need:

1 cinnamon stick

4 cardamom pods (crushed)

2 cloves

1 star anise

1 tsp black peppercorns

1 tsp ginger

1 tsp fennel

1 tsp black tea leaves

2 cups of water

sugar/ honey to taste

1/2 cup of milk

Crush the cloves, cinnamon, cardamom pods and peppercorns. Boil the water and add the spices and the tea. Allow it to simmer for about 10 minutes.

Add the milk and sugar/ honey and let it boil again, cover and let it steep for a few minutes. Strain the tea into a pot or teacups.

Curl up somewhere warm and enjoy!
